Higashikushiro Shell Midden: Cross section of the shell midden
Higashikushiro Shell Midden from the early Jomon period is located on a plateau facing the Kushiro Marsh. In 1970, it was designated as a national historic site – the first such designation in Hokkaido. The maximum thickness of its cross section is 1 m.
